Carlos Lopez, Ph.D.

Carlos Lopez, Ph.D.

Carlos Lopez, Ph.D., Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). Dr. Lopez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. He then did a two year postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Robert A. Good in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Lopez was recruited to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City where he was head of the Herpesvirus Infections Laboratory and a member of the staff of the Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences for the following 12 years. He moved to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where he was in charge of the Viral Examthems Branch, Virology Division, National Center for Infectious Diseases in Atlanta, Georgia. He also had an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Emory School of Medicine, during that same period. After three years he was recruited to Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana, to develop and direct a Virology Research capability. He was Director and later Executive Director of Virology Research and later Infectious Diseases Research. During his last three years with Lilly, Dr. Lopez was in charge of finding, evaluating, and bringing in new technology for the Infectious Diseases Research component of Lilly. Dr. Lopez has published over 130 articles, edited six books, organized nine international scientific meetings, has been selected to sit on six national panels, and has consulted for numerous organizations. His contributions to the scientific literature are many but three stand out: he discovered and characterized genetic resistance in mice to Herpes Simplex Virus infections, he helped describe AIDS and discovered and helped characterize the innate immunodeficiency found in AIDS patients, and was leader of the Lilly research team responsible for discovery of the HIV protease inhibitor Viracept. More recently his interest has focused on stem cells as therapeutics in human disease.

Ronald D. Henriksen, M.B.A., Co-Founder and President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Henriksen joined EndGenitor as President and CEO in February of 2005. He is also CIO of Twilight Venture Partners (a life sciences venture capital firm which he co-founded). During 2005 and 2006, he was also CEO of Semafore Pharmaceuticals. From 1998 until 2001, Mr. Henriksen served as CEO of Indiana University Advanced Research & Technology Institute, a leading university technology transfer group (now named Indiana University Research & Technology Corporation). Between 1996 and 1998, he was CEO of Itasca Ventures, a consortium formed by leading Minneapolis health care companies to serve as a virtual incubator for new enterprises. In 1993, Mr. Henriksen joined Khepri Pharmaceuticals as President and CEO, which he merged with Arris Pharmaceuticals (now part of Celera Genomics) after several successful fundraising rounds that enabled the company to advance its drug discovery platform.

Prior to joining Khepri, Mr. Henriksen had a 23-year career at Eli Lilly in marketing, finance, operations and business development. He served as Managing Director of Lilly’s South American operations; managed six acquisitions of strategic businesses; directed venture investments totaling over $100 million; and negotiated more than 50 Lilly R&D collaborations.

Mr. Henriksen serves on a number of corporate boards including QLT Inc. (Nasdaq: QLTI), BioStorage Technologies, ANGEL Learning Inc., Cytori Therapeutics (Frankfurt: XMP), and IMI International Medical Innovations (Amex: IME). He earned a B.S. from Iowa State University and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.


Mervin C. Yoder, M.D.

Mervin C. Yoder, M.D.

Mervin C. Yoder, M.D., Co-Founder and Scientific Consultant. Dr. Yoder received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Malone College, Master’s Degree in Pharmacology and Physiology from Indiana State University, and M.D. Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed a Pediatric residency and a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Yoder was recruited to Indiana University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. He was awarded tenure and advanced to full Professor in Pediatrics and was also named Full Graduate Member of the Graduate School and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Recently Dr. Yoder was awarded an Endowed Professorship named the Richard and Pauline Klingler Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Yoder has served as Director for the Program of Comparative Medicine (a collaborative effort between the School of Animal Sciences and the School of Veterinary Medicine of Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Medicine). Dr. Yoder has published over 150 articles, invited review articles, and book chapters and is co-editor of the Workbook of Practical Neonatology (4 editions). He has served on numerous National Institutes of Health Study Sections and has served as a grant reviewer for the Wellcome Trust and the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) of Singapore. Dr. Yoder’s research contributions have been many with the most significant including the development of an in utero myeloablative conditioning regimen to permit stem cell transplants in newborn mice, identification of repopulating stem cells in the murine yolk sac, discovery of the temporal and spatial events leading to murine blood island organogenesis, and most recently, in collaboration with Dr. David Ingram, discovery of the organization of the vascular endothelium into a hierarchy of endothelial stem and progenitor cells.

David A. Ingram, M.D., Co-Founder. Dr. Ingram received his Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies from Brown University, Master’s Degree of Theology/Ethics from Vanderbilt Divinity School, and M.D. Degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed a Pediatric residency at the University of California at San Francisco and a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Ingram is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Ingram is an Investigator in the Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research (along with Dr. Yoder) and a Consulting and Attending Physician at several local hospitals. Dr. Ingram has published over 20 articles and book chapters. He has served on a National Institutes of Health Study Section. Dr. Ingram’s research topics include Neurofibromatosis Type I, but most recently the discovery of the organization of the vascular endothelium into a hierarchy of endothelial stem and progenitor cells in collaboration with Dr. Mervin Yoder.



Dennis W. White

Dennis W. White

Dennis W. White, Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. White has an Accountancy degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Mr. White worked for 30 years in various domestic and international operating divisions of Eli Lilly and Company including financial management positions in marketing and manufacturing operations. After taking early retirement from Lilly, he founded and ran a volleyball athletic business before joining a local Indianapolis consulting firm. In this latter role, he has provided general and project financial and business management assistance and support to entrepreneurial and corporate business ventures and operations.

Paul A. Hyslop, Ph.D., Vice President, Research & Development. Dr. Hyslop received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Southampton, and Doctorate in Biochemistry from the school of Biomedical Sciences, University of Southampton, UK. He completed his Postdoctoral training in the department of Vascular Biology at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, La Jolla. As a Research associate, he focused his attention on inflammatory mechanisms, and was appointed as Scientific Consultant to the Rees-Stealy Research Foundation Laboratories in San Diego. In 1988, Dr. Hyslop joined the Department of Neurosciences at Eli Lilly and Co. At Lilly, he was involved in the development of therapeutics to treat neurodegenerative disorders, including stroke and Alzheimer’s disease. In 2005, Dr. Hyslop joined EndGenitor as Director of Research and Development at the inception of the Company. During his career, has published over 75 research articles, invited review articles and book chapters, and is co-inventor on three issued U.S. patents. He has also served for 10 years on the Feasibility Review Board for the National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI).

Robert I. Grove, Ph.D., Director, Research & Development. Dr. Grove has more than 18 years experience in building cardiovascular programs in both biotechnology and large pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Grove has more than 40 scientific publications. His experience in managing laboratory personnel allows effective daily oversight of EndGenitor’s research laboratories’ three associate scientific staff.
